Veneers Q&A

What are veneers?

Veneers are a quick and simple solution to a more beautiful smile. Dr. Rad bonds the wafer-like porcelain shells to your teeth to improve shape, size, or color, as well as add an additional layer of strength and resilience.

Am I a good candidate for veneers?

Dr. Rad determines if you're a good candidate for veneers during a consultation at Dentique. You may be considered a good candidate for veneers if your teeth are in good overall health, you’re free from gum disease, and you’re looking for a dental cosmetic solution to fix your:

  • Tooth discoloration
  • Chipped or cracked tooth
  • Misshapen tooth
  • Misalignment
  • Gapped teeth

If veneers aren’t a good fit for you, Dr. Rad may recommend other dental cosmetic treatments such as teeth whitening, Invisalign®, or crowns. She also offers dental treatments to address any underlying oral health issues that may prevent you from getting veneers, such as periodontal treatments for gum disease.

What can I expect during the placement of my veneers?

Placement of your porcelain veneers at Dentique may require at least two office visits. During your first veneer treatment session, Dr. Rad prepares your teeth for the veneer by removing a minuscule amount of enamel from the front surface of your teeth. She then takes a mold of your prepared teeth, and together you decide on the proper shading of your porcelain veneers to get the most natural results.

She sends the mold of your teeth to a special dental lab that creates your custom porcelain veneers. When ready, she has you return to the office for placement.

During placement of veneers, she cleans your teeth, applies a special cement to the veneer, and bonds the porcelain shell to your tooth using a special curing light.

How do I care for my veneers?

Dr. Rad provides specific instructions on how to care for your veneers to improve longevity. In general, you should brush and floss your teeth daily and return to the office for your regularly scheduled dental exams and cleanings.

If your veneers break or crack, Dr. Rad replaces them as needed.
